Influences on the U.S. Constitution

This year we commemorate the 235th anniversary of the Constitutional Convention, which led not to a revised Articles of Confederation but to a new document — the U.S. Constitution — that has served as the legal basis of the United States government since its ratification. This issue of Law Wise explores various influences on the Constitution including early colonial sources such as the Mayflower Compact and Virginia Constitution.
