Deana R. Mead

Executive Coordinator of Projects & Events

Deana is the Kansas Bar Association’s executive coordinator of projects and events. Deana joined the KBA team in 1999, serving prior to her current role as manager of sales support with the Kansas Lawyer Service Corporation (a subsidiary of the KBA), manager of member services, director of continuing legal education, associate executive director, interim executive director, and executive director. Her previous employment experience includes the Hutchinson Public School District, the Kansas Association of School Boards and the Topeka Public School District.
Fun Facts: Deana is a self-taught car crooner and shares her birthday with Kansas Jayhawks coach Bill Self.

Joseph N. Molina III

Legislative Services Director

Joe is the KBA's director of legislative services. He advocates for the KBA and the legal community at the federal, state, and local levels, cultivates relationships with the judicial branch, and meets with stakeholders to develop proposals to that increase access to justice and judicial independence. During the legislative session, he writes the weekly Advocate blog and live-tweets legislative hearings. Joe received his B.A. in political science, philosophy and economics from Eastern Oregon University and his J.D. from the Washburn University School of Law. Before his arrival at the KBA in 2008, he worked at the Topeka Metropolitan Transit Authority and as an assistant attorney general acting as the director of the Kansas No-Call Act.
Fun Facts: Joe was born and raised in Maui, Hawaii, lived in a tent for three years, and moved to Kansas sight unseen.

Kayla Morgan

Office Services Assistant

Kayla is the KBA's office services assistant. She’s the friendly voice that routes incoming calls to the right staff members, assists with accounting, handles IOLTA processing, and manages the KBA Bookstore. She’s also pursuing her associate's degree in criminal justice from Washburn University and will soon be starting her Bachelor of Criminal Justice in forensic investigation sciences. Before joining the KBA, she worked at the Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office as a legal assistant and a victim/witness coordinator.
Fun Facts: When Kayla is not working or hitting the books, she loves spending time with her three boys, diving into a good book, gaming, and binge-watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Mollie Qualseth

CLE Services Manager

Mollie is the KBA's continuing legal education services manager and joined the team in May 2024. Mollie has nearly 20 years of experience in association management in a variety of roles including continuing education, executive operations, and communications. She is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in communication studies.
Fun Facts: Mollie loves watching sports and is an avid Jayhawks, Chiefs, and Royals fan and rarely misses seeing them play. She is also a foodie and has a passion for cooking for others.

 

Nicki Spurling

Office Services Manager

Nicki is the KBA's Office Services Manager, primarily focusing on office management, accounting, and IOLTA. With 20 years of experience co-owning a business with her sister and a background in nursing, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team.
Fun Facts: Outside of work, Nicki loves spending time at the lake or pool, playing with her Great Dane, Oakley, and cherishes moments spent with family and friends.

Sabrina Thompson

Executive Director

Sabrina joined the Kansas Bar Association and the Kansas Bar Foundation as executive director in 2023. In her previous roles, Sabrina gained valuable experience in association management, finance, administration, marketing, business development, and fundraising. She earned her bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and her associate degree in communications from Keystone College.
Fun Facts: Sabrina fosters beagles for Omaha-based Basset & Beagle Rescue of the Heartland and always keeps a microchip scanner with her to assist in reuniting lost pets with their families.

Anne Woods

Public Services Director and Foundation Liaison

Anne coordinates the KBA Lawyer Referral Service program. She also serves as the liaison for several KBF programs and events. Anne received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Kansas and has more than 25 years of experience working for associations and nonprofits in Kansas. This is Anne’s second tour with the KBA and KBF. She served as public services director from 2013-2020.
Fun Facts: Anne enjoys finding bargains and treasures at garage/estate sales and auctions.
