About the KBA

The Kansas Bar Association (KBA) was founded in 1882 as a voluntary association for dedicated legal professionals. In Kansas, the KBA now has over 5,000 members, including lawyers, judges, law students, and other legal professionals. If you are a law student studying or intending to practice in Kansas, we invite you to join the KBA  with a free student membership. Scholarships

While membership is not required to apply for Kansas Bar Foundation (KBF) scholarships, members are typically the first to hear about new opportunities. Membership is also an excellent way to demonstrate your commitment to practicing law in Kansas for KBF and other scholarships.

Professional and Career Development

KBA members also get discounts for our CLE programs, a must-have for licensed attorneys – who can save over $500 on CLE discounts each year. Additionally, Law Students are often offered free or heavily discounted rates for our programs. While you might not need CLE credits just yet, these events are an excellent resource for networking - with both attendees and speakers!

We are also excited to offer our KBA Career Connection – a job board for those in the legal profession, including everything from internships to judicial positions.

Making Connections

A prime benefit is our member sections - groups of members typically oriented around a practice area. Student members are automatically included in the Young Lawyers Section (YLS), and for just $20, you can join any of our other 24 practice area sections. This allows you to immediately make connections with active attorneys in your desired practice area!
